In recognition that world peace is impossible without peace first between Christians and Jews, we lay forth these principles which can serve to unite Christians and Jews on grounds held common by all Biblical Zionists.
G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
#1. I believe in the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (lsrael), who created the heavens, the earth, all its inhabitants, and who, in His infinite wisdom, gave the Land of Israel to the People of lsrael, as He spoke to Abraham, "I will give unto you and your offspring after you the Land of your sojourns, the whole Land of Canaan as an everlasting possession and I shall be their G-d." “He alone is our G-d, who was, who is, and who is to be.”
Intrinsic Human Value
#2. I believe all people are created in the Image of G-d and as such, have equal and infinite value before G-d, are worthy of equal love, without discrimination based on race or creed, whether Jew, Christian, or any other, as it is written, “you shall love your fellow as yourself,” and, “So G-d created man in His own image; in the image of G-d He created him; male and female He created them.”
Authority of the Hebrew Bible
#3. I believe that the Torah was given by G-d through Moses at Mount Sinai and that every word in the Torah, Writings, and the Prophets is eternal, true, and relevant to all humanity. I willfully subscribe to a moral code based upon these Hebrew Scriptures and believe that G-d, in His infinite love, gave us Instruction for true freedom, life, and blessing, not for harm, nor bondage. "Its ways are ways of pleasantness and all its pathways are peace. It is the Tree of Life for those who grasp it and happy are all who support it."
G-d’s Covenant with Abraham’s Descendants
#4. I believe in G-d’s eternal Covenant with Israel, neither replaced nor annulled, as it is written, "I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your offspring after you, throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant to be a G-d to you and your offspring after you.” I believe that the People known today as "Jews" are true and physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (lsrael). As such, they are rightful heirs to all of the promises of G-d written in the Bible regarding them and the entire Land given to Abraham, “from the Egyptian River until the Great River Euphrates."
Restoration of Israel
#5. I believe that the Rebirth of the modern State of Israel, the Ingathering of the Exiles from the four corners of the earth, and the Revival of the once-barren Land of Israel are the first rays from the sunrise of the biblical Messianic Era, the Sure sign of the world’s Redemption, as it is written, "And you O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My People lsrael for they are soon to come." "They will neither do evil nor destroy any more in all of My sacred mountain; for the knowledge of G-d will cover the world as waters cover the sea." “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.”
Role of Israel and the Nations
#6. I solemnly endorse the calling of Israel and the Jewish people by G-d to be a “kingdom of priests and a holy nation” in the Holy Land of Israel. As the sons of Aaron are an appointed priesthood to Israel, so Israel is appointed by G-d as a priesthood to the Nations. Israel is called “a light to the nations,” and the equally vital calling of all Christians and Nations is to receive and reflect that Light of G-d from Zion.
Temple in Jerusalem
#7. I look forward to the rebuilding of the Holy Temple on the Temple Mount in Israel’s capital city of Jerusalem, the holiest place in the world to both Christians and Jews, and the Return of G-d’s Presence to Zion, as is written by the Prophet Ezekiel, “this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever,” and as is written by the Prophet Isaiah, “my House shall be called a House of Prayer for all nations.”
Coming of Messiah
#8. Instead of allowing the subject of Messiah to divide us, we choose to unite on our common belief that the Messiah son of David will come to rule and reign on his throne in Jerusalem according to the Prophets of Israel and at that time, there will be no question as to his identity. I humbly accept that even some of my beliefs concerning him may ultimately be proven wrong when he comes.
Common International Language
#9. I recognize Hebrew as the Holy Language of G-d used in the Creation of the world and as the language of the Holy Scriptures. I aspire to learn Hebrew and I envision a day when Hebrew, like English now, will be an international language spoken amongst all peoples in reverse of the division at the Tower of Babel, in fulfillment of what was written by the Prophet Zephaniah, “For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, That they all may call on the name of the L-rd, To serve Him with one accord.”
Mutual Respect
#10. I strictly operate in full mutual respect for each other’s religion, whether Christian, Jewish, or proselyte, without conscious effort or attempt, overtly or covertly, to evangelize or convert others to my particular faith.
Jesus’ Jewishness
#11. I respect the belief that Jesus of Nazareth was a first-century Jew who was zealous for G-d’s Temple in Jerusalem and sought for the Restoration of Israel as envisioned by the ancient Hebrew Prophets, though I may not believe it myself and though throughout history innumerable acts have been done in his name which were contrary to this belief.
Activism and Prayer
#12. I strengthen Israel to the best of my ability, by sharing these principles with others, as it is written, “for Zion’s sake I will not be silent,” and by working for the greater good of Israel and the whole world, as the L-rd spoke to Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel without ceasing, as it is written in the Psalms, “pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” and, “peace be upon Israel.”
Mutual Bond
#13. I wholeheartedly commit myself to these principles and all other adherents thereof as friends. Even if the entire world around us abandon or deny its Judeo-Christian heritage, we will not forsake the Foundation of Humane Civilization. We hereby determine to put aside our differences, which only serve to divide us and render us ineffective, and unite under these principles which, only with the Blessing of Divine Providence, may guide us to the Redemption of the World, the Restoration of All Things, the True Light of G-d from Zion.
